CAPTAIN – Mike Bowen (British)
Sail & Work Experience:
Mike began sailing at the age of 14, participating in family trips from a young age. His charter career began in 1988, predominantly working on sailing yachts while completing 7 Atlantic crossings and 3 Indian Ocean passages through the years. Mike took some time out in Australia with his family to train as a chef but has since returned to his love of sailing aboard S/Y TIGA BELAS. Having cruised extensively in both Mediterranean and Caribbean waters, Mike will ensure your charter is an unforgettable one!
Job Description:
Mike is responsible for the navigation, safety, the overall running and financial management of the vessel, crew and guests. He ensures the safe and efficient operation of the yacht at all times, including compliance with all safety procedures and regulations. He takes care of adhering to flag regulations, port, state, and local laws and regulations, and manages the crew to ensure adherence to, and a full understanding of, the vessel’s policies.
Licenses & Qualifications:
- Master of Yachts 3000GRT Commercial
- RYA Ocean Yacht Master

CHEF - Helen Finnigan (British)
Sail and work experience:
Experienced in most cuisines, Helen particularly enjoyed cooking Thai, Japanese,
Indian and Mediterranean food. She also has a passion for vegetarian and plant-
based vegan meals, happy to adapt to the requirements of guests aboard TIGA
BELAS. Having run a successful catering business for corporate clients among
other impressive achievements, Helen is returning to her superyacht chef roots
with experience a head chef over 10 years ago!
Job Description:
In charge of the galley and is responsible for all guests and crew meals, assuring
a rich variety of food. Helen estimates food needs, reviews inventory assuring
adequate supplies are available, sticking to budget and guests’ expectations.
Carries out food service activities in order to have meals prepared at scheduled
times and makes sure she complies with health regulations.
Licenses & Qualifications:
• HAACP (French) Food & Hygiene Certificate
• Btec OND Catering & Hotel Management Qualification
• Brevet de Secourisme (First Aid)
