Originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, Jared is the youngest of four siblings He has been taking sailing vacations with his family in the Pamlico Sound, Caribbean and Mediterranean since he was 12 years old. Jared played lots of sports, traveled with a select soccer team and also worked as a camp counselor during the summers at a kids camp, Camp Kanata. After school at Appalachian State, he thought a change of climate might be nice and has lived in the Virgin Islands off and on for the past 10 years, making short stops in New York City and London to pursue his culinary and musical careers.
Jared crewed aboard multiple 62 ft. Day-Sail catamarans in the Caribbean as a mate and bartender and then was asked to step aboard Bella Vita, a 46ft. charter catamaran, as mate/chef. Working in the industry for three seasons he developed a desire to captain his own vessel. As a captain, Jared has worked crewed yacht charters for the past three + years, and has his 100 Ton Masters and Sailing Endorsement, STCW, CPR certification and is an Advanced Open Water Diver.
Jared also spends his summers, during the "off" season, as a childrens sailing camp director in the Hudson Valley of New York State.
Jared will share tales of history and lore of the sea, and will keep guests laughing while serving his his famous ( or infamous) “Trouble in a Cup.” When not chartering, Jared can be found surfing, kiteboarding, scuba diving, or at local Restaurants around the islands playing accoustic guitar and DJ-ing.
Oh…and don’t be surprised to see him in the galley right along side the chef. This guy knows how to cook!
