Cuan is from South Africa, has a Diploma in Tourism and Tour operations which lead to a job in Mozambique as a Marine Logistics Supervisor. As traveling was inevitable for his next step, he stepped on board as first mate, to deliver a catamaran from Cape Town to St. Lucia, 10 years ago. While in the Caribbean, he learnt operational aspects of managing yachts, from sanding decks to serving drinks! Freelancing as a captain for the Moorings in Tortolla, he saw an opportunity to advance his new career, and became a deckhand on a 120ft Benetti. Cuan then joined a 130ft Feadship and cruised the Mediterranean and thereafter became a safety officer onboard a Sunseeker. Upon becoming a Master – he has chartered and cruised South East Asia and the Pacific, the Bahamas, New England and the US. Cuan thrives as working part of a team, yet is a motivated individual, good communicator and problem solver. Cuan takes pride in his work and is always willing to lend a hand wherever necessary. Leading by example as a captain, yet learning at the same time, he is able to offer his knowledge and enthusiasm to new crew. Safety and communication are the keys to a successful charter yacht. Cuan is hands on, hardworking and strives for longevity of a great team and repeat charters!
Cuan enjoys all watersports, including, surfing, kiteboarding, free diving and fishing.
Michael is from Canada, and is completely fascinated with all aspects of food, from sprouting plants to developing new spices. With over 10 years of working in various restaurants, serving many different styles of cuisines, he has enjoyed developing tasting menus, managing large scale catering events and creating amazing dishes to leave your palette in favor of more food! Chef Michael was hired to be a temporary chef on board a large Feadship based out of Newport in 2016 and enjoyed the changes life onboard a moving vessel brings: The ability to travel and the exploration with more ingredients! He became a freelance chef for charter vessels cruising the Caribbean, Costa Rica and the Bahamas. Chef Michael coordinated a galley refit of two privately owned yachts and enjoyed the time to create and serve dishes in the midst of having no kitchen! His favorite culinary styles include; French, Italian, Asian, Vegetarian, Mexican and more. Chef Michael will offer the highest standards of creative meals you will never forget and welcomes guests with dietary restrictions. This is what makes Chef Michael tick with excitement.
Rai is French and obtained a Degree in Mathematics and Informatics at the University of French Polynesia. He joined the industry as a deckhand and has cruised the Mediterranean, Caribbean, South Pacific and United states on large yachts including M/Y Legacy and Helios 3.
With a great amount of experience in the yachting industry, ‘Rai’ is a young, qualified engineer with ample skills for engineering and deck work. He is hands-on with positive energy and the can-do attitude that is needed on a busy charter yacht! Rai is very organized and meticulous in his engine room, has great knowledge and interest in AV and IT systems which helps with providing the technical guidance needed for the yacht. Rai is a certified rescue diver and enjoys driving the tender, going fishing with the guests and participating in all kinds of watersports! You will always see him with a smile and ready to help – ensuring that all guests have lasting memories from their charter on board!
Alex grew up surfing and fishing as a way of life. Alex was raised in Anna Bay, a small coastal town on Australia’s East coast. Having a passion for the water and the life around it, he later spent 7 years qualifying and working as a boat builder, before combining his work and hobbies into a career in yachting. Alex is your go to fishing guide on board and a guarantee a good time as you hook a big one!
CHIEF STEWARDESS JACOLINE
After completing a degree in consumer science, Jacoline decided to join the yachting industry and has loved it ever since. Growing up on a farm in South Africa, life on the the water is very different, but is something that has brought out the best part of her personality. Jacoline is outgoing, creative, adventurous and enjoys new experiences. Jacoline enjoys all guest interactions and will make you feel right at home. Jacoline looks forward to serving and assisting with all hospitality needs.
SECOND STEWARDESS JESSICA
Jessica was born in Texas but raised in Cape Town, South Africa. She joined the yachting industry after completing one year of studying Events Management. Being something she is passionate about and thoroughly enjoys, she decided that events could be planned any where in the world and in many different ways. Mix passion and work together and magical things happen. She is a lover of all things adventure related and is grateful for the opportunities that work brings. She hopes to make your stay with us an experience you’ll never forget.
Tyler was born in Cape Town, South Africa and grew up around the ocean so all water related activities come naturally to him. He is a passionate surfer and sailor and in his time off enjoys anything adventure related including golf, scuba diving and most outdoor activities as well as exploring new places. Tyler looks forward to welcoming you on board Antares and taking care of all your outdoor activity needs.
